Eyelash Extension Removal Gel: Ingredients, Application, and Safety

Eyelash extensions have become a popular way to enhance natural beauty. However, the removal of these extensions requires specialized products like gel removers. This article delves into the ingredients commonly found in eyelash extension removal gels, proper application techniques, and essential safety precautions.

What is Gel Remover?

Gel Remover is a product designed for professional lash artists. This eyelash glue remover is designed for easy and harmless eyelash extension removal.

Composition of Eyelash Extension Removal Gels

Eyelash extension removal gels typically contain a blend of ingredients designed to dissolve the adhesive bond without causing harm to the natural lashes or surrounding skin.

Key Ingredients

While specific formulations vary, common ingredients include:

  • Solvents: These are the primary active ingredients responsible for breaking down the cyanoacrylate adhesive used in eyelash extensions. Examples include propylene carbonate.
  • Thickeners: Thickeners like cellulose derivatives or polymers give the remover its gel consistency, preventing it from running into the eyes.
  • Emollients: These ingredients, such as glycerin or aloe vera, help to soothe and moisturize the skin, reducing the potential for irritation.
  • Surfactants: These help to emulsify and lift away the dissolved adhesive and any remaining residue.
  • Stabilizers: Stabilizers ensure the product's shelf life and prevent degradation of the active ingredients.
  • Fragrance: Many removers contain a pleasant scent to improve the user experience. Stacy Lash Gel Remover has a pleasant scent.

Bella's Premium Gel Remover contains only two ingredients and is free of gamma-Butyrolactone.

Step-by-Step Guide to Eyelash Extension Removal Using Gel Remover

Proper application is crucial for effective and safe removal. Here’s a detailed guide:

Preparation

  1. Protect the Skin: Apply EBL eye pads to protect the skin during the removal process to protect the skin under the eye. Alternatively, place an under eye pad on the lower lashes and skin. If you are removing lashes before you re-apply a new set, be sure to remove the under eye pad and place down a new one, as any left over adhesive remover will negatively affect your retention.
  2. Isolate Lashes: Gently tape back the lashes you want to keep, leaving only the outgrown or otherwise damaged lashes.

Application

  1. Apply the Gel: Place a small pea size of Gel Remover on a micro swab. Apply cream remover with a micro brush directly on the lashes to be removed, avoiding skin and other lash extensions you don’t want to remove. Alternatively, apply a small amount of eyelash adhesive remover onto 2 microfiber brushes for eyelash extensions. Place one micro swab underneath the lashes, and one on top of the lashes.
  2. Coat the Extensions: Gently wipe the eyelash extension where the glue is applied until the lash loosens and comes off. Gently coat all extensions. BE GENTLE. Go back and forth from eye to eye sliding the remover from base to tips.
  3. Wait: Allow the remover to sit for a few minutes as it breaks down the eyelash extension bond. The Stacy Lash Gel Remover formula works in just 60 seconds
  4. Remove Extensions: After a few minutes, the bond will have been loosened and the lashes can then be removed by simply sliding the lash off using your tweezers. The lash extensions will start to slide off naturally.

Post-Removal Care

  1. Cleanse Thoroughly: All excess remover must be washed off thoroughly with water. After eyelash extensions are removed, use warm water and towel to wipe away excess eyelash extension glue remover.
  2. Remove Residue: Wipe off any extra remover with a primer or protein remover wipes before applying new lashes.
  3. Dry Lashes: Gently pat the area dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
