Paul Mitchell is a globally renowned hair care brand with a rich history. Founded in 1980, the company was born from the vision of two friends who sought to empower hairdressers and provide accessible luxury hair care. This article delves into a review of Paul Mitchell clarifying shampoo, exploring its features, benefits, and overall performance.
Paul Mitchell offers a range of clarifying shampoos designed to deeply cleanse the hair and remove buildup. Among these, "Shampoo Two" and "Shampoo Three" stand out for their unique formulations and targeted benefits. "Shampoo Two" is designed to deeply cleanse hair and remove dulling buildup, while "Shampoo Three" is formulated to remove chlorine, iron, and minerals, making it ideal for swimmers.
Paul Mitchell 'Shampoo Two' is part of their Clarifying range of hair care products. As this is a deep cleansing, clarifying shampoo, many people prefer to use this type of product every week or two or depending on their needs, however, this product is stated as being gentle enough to use every day. The shampoo itself is of a thin consistency and of a clear color. It has a really pleasant citrus lemon scent. As someone who has thick hair which does get oily, it’s important to find the right shampoo as some are too weak at removing the oil, while others are too strong and can strip your hair harshly. This product lathers up well for its fluid consistency and leaves my hair feeling deeply cleansed and oil free, while any build up from hair products that I use (dry shampoo, sea salt spray, hairspray) is completely gone. It deeply cleanses hair and removes dulling buildup. Excellent for oily hair.
Massage into wet hair. Rinse. Repeat as needed. Follow with your favorite Paul Mitchell conditioner.

Paul Mitchell offer a couple of clarifying shampoos- one is aimed at oily hair whereas this one, called Shampoo Three, is designed to remove chlorine (including helping to prevent swimmers "chlorine green" tint), iron and minerals. Paul Mitchell Clarifying Shampoo Three is a thick, clear gel with a subtle green tint. It didn't have much of a fragrance to speak of- it simply smelt fresh & clean. Paul Mitchell Clarifying Shampoo Three produces a generous lather, which means that a little goes a long way. Following use, my hair felt wonderfully clean. I was impressed that the Clarifying Shampoo didn't irritate my sensitive scalp.

A part of the Original hair care range from Paul Mitchell, what’s interesting about this Awapuhi Shampoo is that it has two uses - it can be used as a shampoo and a body wash. Awapuhi, also known as Shampoo Ginger is a ginger plant found in India, Polynesia and the Hawaiian Islands and has been used for many decades as a shampoo, conditioner and used on the skin. This ‘Super rich wash’ is suitable for all hair types and is of a thinner consistency when compared to other shampoos. This product lathers very well and a little goes a long way. It effectively washes the hair, removing excess oil and build up from products, while leaving the hair feeling and looking healthy. My hair is left feeling silky smooth, soft and voluminous. However, what I did notice when using this shampoo is that because it is such a rich formulation, as I said above, a little does go a long way and it provides better results when only a small quantity is used in the hair.
The Detangler is a creamy yellow, rich conditioner which detangles and conditions hair, targeted toward medium to coarse and chemically treated hair. The conditioner is light weight and lathers up well, once applied to the hair, you can almost immediately feel its effects. My hair feels smooth and detangled, even before rinsing the conditioner out! Once my hair is dry, it feels and looks clean but still nourished and not dry nor stripped, while there is a healthy shine to my smooth, soft hair which is tangle free! I found that this product worked very well when paired with Shampoo Two.
For individuals who frequently swim, protecting hair from chlorine is essential. Here are some tips to minimize chlorine damage:
