Having previously explored the Kerastase Resistance range, the Densifique and Nutritive lines were next in line for review. The Kerastase Densifique range is marketed as a luxurious ritual to make devitalized hair thicker, fuller, and healthier-looking. It features densifying technologies, including hyaluronic acid and Intra-Cyclane. The promise of increased density and strength made this range particularly appealing.
The initial experience with the Kerastase Densifique Shampoo and Conditioner was underwhelming. The scent was described as a strong floral, which some found overwhelming and unpleasant. More importantly, the products did not seem to provide the moisture and density that the hair needed.
The Kerastase Densifique Shampoo lathers well, meaning a small amount is sufficient for cleaning the scalp. The texture of the shampoo was considered fine, and hair felt somewhat plusher while washing it out. Additionally, it rinses out easily, which is a positive aspect.

Despite the promise of increased density, the products did not deliver smooth, silky, dense hair.
Subsequent uses and increased amounts of conditioner did not improve the outcome. Even others with different hair types experienced similar issues, such as hay-like strands and scalp flaking, leading to a discontinuation of the product after a few weeks.
An examination of the ingredients list revealed denatured alcohol, which could contribute to dryness. However, since the Kerastase Resistance shampoo also contains denatured alcohol without causing the same dryness, the focus shifted to hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate). While hyaluronic acid is intended to draw moisture into the hair and skin, it may not be effective in haircare after blow-drying.
The Kerastase Densifique range is not recommended for those with dry hair and scalps. It might be suitable for individuals with extremely oily hair and scalps, as it functions more as a deeply clarifying wash. Despite the disappointing results, Kerastase offers many other haircare products, making it essential to find the right line for specific hair types. Trying out mini sets before committing to full-size products is advisable.
The Nutritive range is described as an intensely nourishing haircare collection for dry hair, designed to combat nutrient deficiency. It is enriched with proteins from wheat, corn, and soy, along with essential fatty acids, omegas, and vitamins. The formula also includes niacinamide, a vitamin B3 derivative, known for enhancing softness and resilience.

Optimism surrounded the Kerastase Nutritive Bain Satin Shampoo and Lait Vital Conditioner, especially considering their purported moisturizing properties. The goal was to nourish dry hair and restore its softness and shine.
The Kerastase Nutritive Bain Satin Shampoo lathers exceptionally well with only a small amount, which is a significant advantage. Its creamy texture creates a rich lather that feels pleasant during washing. However, the scent, a strong powdery floral, was not to everyone's liking.
The Kerastase Nutritive Lait Vital Conditioner has a light-medium consistency and applies smoothly, coating the hair effectively. However, those with long hair may need to use a considerable amount to achieve full coverage. While it doesn’t feel heavy, the hair absorbs the moisture, which is a promising sign. Like the shampoo, the conditioner shares the same powdery floral scent, which some found off-putting.
After the first use, hair appeared smooth and healthy, with a light and airy feel. The hair had more volume than usual and didn’t look flat or straw-like. The natural waves in the hair looked sleeker and more defined. However, some frizz and flyaways were noticeable, and the scalp exhibited visible dry flakes immediately after drying, which was not ideal.
After a break, reintroducing the Kerastase Densifique range led to negative results. The Densifique shampoo and conditioner severely dried out the hair, leaving it extremely frizzy and damaged. Attempts to restore moisture using the Nutritive shampoo and conditioner were unsuccessful. The hair remained dry and frizzy even after two more washes.

To combat the dryness, an oil serum was used before applying the Nutritive range. Despite this effort, the Bain Satin shampoo and Lait Vital conditioner from the Kerastase Nutritive range did not prove to be the right fit.
Although these particular products from the Nutritive line did not work out as expected, Kerastase offers a wide array of other haircare products worth exploring. The Resistance line remains a recommendation for strengthening hair, and it also features a more appealing scent.
Beyond the Bain Satin shampoo and Lait Vital conditioner, the Kerastase Nutritive line includes other products tailored for different levels of dryness and hair types.
Kerastase also offers another shampoo that is a level up from the Bain Satin for very dry hair called Nutritive Bain Satin Riche. This option provides an even more intense level of hydration for those who need it.
For very dry, damaged hair (fine to medium), the Nutritive Masquintense is a nourishing mask that conditions and revitalizes the hair’s softness and shine. There is also the Nutritive Masquintense Riche, which is recommended for very dry medium to thick hair. This intensely nourishing rich hair mask offers deep conditioning.
To use the Masquintense mask, apply it to the lengths and ends of shampooed and towel-dried hair. Massage it in, twist the hair, and leave it in for 2-3 minutes before rinsing.
The Nutritive 8h Magic Nourishing Overnight Serum is designed to work overnight to condition and replenish dry hair. This serum is applied to the ends of the hair and can be used for a few nights in a row without weighing the hair down or making it greasier.
The Elixir Ultime Oil is a bestseller that provides hair protection and shine. This product is a combination of 5 oils and delivers smoothing frizz and flyaways without leaving any greasy residue.
Despite some products not meeting expectations, Kerastase is still viewed positively overall. The brand offers generous sizes, and a little product goes a long way.
The Resistance line remains a favorite, known for making hair feel stronger and look healthier. The aqua-colored packaging is easily recognizable.
When exploring Kerastase products, it’s crucial to consider individual hair types and needs. Trying mini sets is a great way to test products before committing to full-size purchases. While the Densifique range may not be suitable for dry hair, it could work well for oily scalps. The Nutritive range offers several options for varying degrees of dryness, and other lines like Resistance may be more effective for certain hair concerns.
